Whist Classic
Classic partnership whist against three computer players: win odd tricks above six, set trump by turn-up, dealer's choice, a rotating suit or no trump, and climb an eight-table ladder with daily challenges.
Whist Classic is the traditional partnership trick-taking card game for four. You and your partner North face East and West, thirteen cards each, thirteen tricks per hand. Follow suit if you can, and the trump suit beats everything else. Only tricks above six score, so seven tricks is a point and nine is three, and the first side to the match target wins.
The twist is how trump is chosen, and it changes from table to table. The classic way turns up the dealer's last card, but there is also dealer's choice, where the dealer names a suit or no trump after looking at their hand, a rotating trump that cycles through the suits and a no-trump hand, and pure no-trump whist. Some tables add honours, which score extra when your side holds three or four of the top trumps. Opponents play at three levels: Easy bots follow suit and play loosely, Normal bots lead from strength and play low to a winning partner, and Hard bots track voids and the turn-up, sample the hidden hands and test each card before they play it. Win matches to climb eight tables, earn chips and XP, rank up and unlock card backs and felts. A daily challenge adds a fixed deal and a trump twist.
It suits fans of classic card games who like a tidy match. Tip: count the thirteen trumps, lead the top of a sequence and save your high cards for third seat.
How to play
You and North are partners against East and West. Follow the suit led if you can; the highest card of that suit wins the trick, unless a trump was played. Each side scores one point for every trick above six, plus honours at some tables. Trump comes from the turn-up, the dealer, a rotating suit or no trump, depending on the table. First side to the target score wins.
