Volcano Island Explorer
A cartoon platform-exploration game across a volcano island. Watch your heat, unlock Pound Boots, a Splash Pack, Spring Boots and a Heat Cloak, and explore four zones for star shards and hearts.
Volcano Island Explorer is a bright platform adventure where you explore a sleepy volcano from the beach to the crater. You play a young explorer with a backpack and a sunhat. Four zones, Palm Cove, Steam Springs, Lava Caverns and Caldera Summit, are linked together, and every new gadget lets you reach places you had to skip before. Sixteen star shards and three heart containers are hidden across the island, so backtracking is part of the fun.
The twist is heat. Hot zones and lava slowly fill your heat bar, and you cool down by wading into pools and cool springs. Pound Boots smash cracked rocks and press switches, the Splash Pack sprays lava into temporary stone stepping stones and snuffs out flames and fire puffs, Spring Boots jump much higher, and the Heat Cloak makes the summit safe. Geysers, bounce mushrooms, crabs, flame jets and lava bloops keep the platforming lively, and the finale is a rising lava climb to calm the mountain. Checkpoints heal you, so mistakes cost only time, and your progress autosaves.
It is a good fit for platformer fans who like exploration, secrets and ability unlocks, on keyboard or touch. Each day a new seeded Lava Dash course gives a quick race for stars, with a daily streak, rank progression and gems to spend on upgrades such as a bigger water tank. Tip: if you are stuck, press R to return to your last checkpoint.
How to play
Run with A/D or the arrow keys and jump with Space or W. Collect gems, find the four gadgets, and reach each zone's exit. Stay cool in pools, pound cracked rocks, spray lava into stone and hunt for star shards and hearts. Climb the crater and calm the volcano spirit to win. Press R to return to your last checkpoint.
