Star Lancer
A sunny vertical shoot 'em up: weave between enemy fire over tropical seas, collect P power-ups to stack six weapon levels and topple a Sky Fortress every stage.
Star Lancer is a bright, fast vertical scrolling shooter that swaps the usual dark space for sunlit oceans, sandy islands and drifting clouds. Your fighter fires on its own, so you can focus on flying: slip through gaps in enemy fire, sweep up golden P capsules and watch your guns grow from a single pulse cannon to double shot, triple spread, side lasers, homing missiles and full overdrive.
Enemies arrive in waves. Swooping darts trace curved flight paths, drone lines hover and shoot before diving at you, and armored heavies spray fans of bullets. Wipe out an entire formation for a bonus and a free power-up. Every ninth wave a Sky Fortress appears, cycling through ring blasts, aimed triple shots and sweeping streams. Beat it to earn a stage bonus and fly on to a new region, from Coral Sea to Sunset Bay, Glacier Pass and Dune Coast, with tougher waves each time. Getting hit costs a weapon level first, and you gain an extra life at score milestones.
This arcade shmup is great for quick runs and for chasing a high score. Reaching new stages unlocks a stronger starting weapon for future runs. Tip: stay low and keep moving sideways, and take out drone lines before they start diving.
How to play
Your ship fires automatically. Fly around to dodge enemy bullets and ships, and destroy enemies for points. Collect golden P capsules to raise your weapon level; clearing a whole formation drops one. A hit removes one weapon level, or a life if you have no power left. Every ninth wave a Sky Fortress boss appears; defeat it to reach the next stage. The run ends when you lose your last life.
