Ring Boxer
Side-view boxing against eight computer fighters. Jab, hook and uppercut, block or slip punches, land counters for star punches and climb a career to the title.
Ring Boxer is a side-view boxing game about reading your opponent. Every punch has a short windup you can see coming, so the fight is a back and forth of jabs, hooks and uppercuts, blocks and slips. Jabs are quick and reach far, hooks hit harder up close, and uppercuts are slow but smash straight through a raised guard. Throwing costs stamina, and a tired boxer's punches lose their snap.
Fights run three one-minute rounds. Knock your opponent's health to zero for a knockdown and the referee starts counting; three knockdowns in a round is a TKO, and staying down for ten is a knockout. If both fighters last the distance, the judges score the punches landed. Hitting someone in the middle of their windup, or right after slipping their punch, is a counter that earns a star, and stars power a devastating star punch. The career has eight opponents with their own styles: a slow brawler, a fast jabber, a tank with a huge guard, a slippery counter-puncher, a pressure fighter, a thinker, a heavy hitter and the champion. Each new win earns a training point for power, speed, stamina or chin, and your progress is saved.
For anyone who likes fighting games, timing and reactions. Tip: block the big windups, then answer with a hook while they recover.
How to play
Knock your opponent down and keep them down, or win more of the exchanges over three one-minute rounds. Watch for the glowing glove that shows a punch winding up, then block or slip it. Counters earn stars for a powerful star punch. If you are knocked down, mash buttons to beat the count. Win fights to unlock the next opponent and earn training points to spend on the menu.
