Ice hockey shootout on a frozen pond: skate in, deke and snipe past AI goalies, then dive across the crease to stop their shooters. Beat six teams to win the cup.
Puck Shootout is an ice hockey shootout game played on a snowy outdoor pond. Every match is a five-round duel against a computer team: you skate in alone and try to beat their goalie, then you pull on the pads and try to stop their shooter. If it is still level after five rounds, it goes to sudden death, and the winning goal or match-saving stop plays out in slow motion.
Scoring is about reading the goalie. Shots from far out are easy saves, so carry the puck in, pull a deke to drag the goalie across, and shoot into the side that opens. Wind up a hard shot and the goalie drops into a butterfly; deke out of that fake and some goalies bite completely. In goal, slide to cut the angle, watch for the shooter's wind-up and dive at the right moment. Each opponent comes with a scouting report: a slow glove side, a goalie who bites on dekes, a big goalie who is slow to recover, snipers, danglers and power shooters. The six teams get faster, read your moves more often and shoot more accurately.
This hockey game suits anyone who wants quick head-to-head sports action with a real ladder to climb. Your progress is saved, so you can continue from the furthest team you reached. Tip: against the top goalies, start a shot, cancel it with a deke and shoot quickly to the open side.
How to play
Win five-round shootouts against six computer teams. When shooting, skate toward the net, deke to pull the goalie across and shoot into the open side before the shot clock runs out. When in goal, slide to stay between the puck and the net and dive to stop the shot. Goals and saves earn points, with bonuses for dekes, corner snipes, diving saves and match winners. Ties go to sudden death. Lose a match and the season is over.
Controls
- WASD / Arrow keys: Skate (shooting) or slide (in goal)
- Mouse: Aim the shot, or move the goalie
- Space / click: Hold to wind up, release to shoot; dive when in goal
- Shift / X: Deke (cancel a wind-up to fake)
- Touch: Left thumb skates, flick up on the right to shoot, DEKE button; in goal drag to slide and tap a side to dive
- C: Continue from your furthest team on the title screen
- P / Esc, M, R: Pause, mute, restart
