Pente Five Capture
Make five in a row or flank enemy pairs to capture them. Climb a seven-rung ladder of computer opponents, solve a daily scrambled-opening cup, or play a friend on one screen.
Pente Five Capture is a stone-placing strategy game on a 13 by 13 board. Like a classic five-in-a-row game you try to line up five stones across, down or diagonally, but there is a sharp twist: if you flank exactly two enemy stones in a line with your own stones, you capture the pair and remove it from the board. Capture five pairs and you win instantly, so every stone you place is both an attack and a risk.
You play through a ladder of seven computer opponents, from Pip, who plays on whim, to Leviathan, who searches deep and rarely slips. The first stone always goes in the centre. Optional capture hints ring the points where you or your opponent could take a pair, so beginners learn quickly. Matches earn XP, coins and a score based on speed, captures and clean play, and coins unlock five board and stone styles. Beat Crab to unlock seven-pair marathon matches, or switch to three pairs for quick games. Each day brings a Daily Capture Cup with a scrambled opening and a new capture target, plus a streak bonus and three rotating goals.
It suits fans of abstract board games, gomoku-style five-in-a-row games and capture puzzles, whether you play alone, ask for a hint, undo a blunder, or pass the screen to a friend. Tip: avoid placing two stones side by side where an enemy stone already touches one end.
How to play
Take turns placing stones on the intersections. Make five or more in a row to win. If you flank exactly two enemy stones in a line, they are captured and removed. Capture five pairs, or the number chosen in match settings, to win by captures. The first stone is placed in the centre. Use hints and undo if you get stuck.
Controls
- Mouse / tap: Click an intersection to place a stone (touch: tap once to preview, again to place)
- Arrow keys + Enter / Space: Move the cursor and place a stone
- U / Backspace: Undo your last move
- H: Hint (costs 15 coins)
- P / Esc: Pause
- M: Mute
- R: Restart from the result screen
