You start with humble 2s and 4s and climb through 64, 512 and 1024 until the shimmering 2048 tile appears. Every merge scores its value, and after each move a new 2 or 4 drops onto the board, so space grows tight as your tiles get larger. Reaching 2048 is a win, but you can keep going to chase 4096 and a bigger high score. The game ends when the board is full and no neighbouring tiles match.

This free online 2048 puzzle is perfect for players who enjoy calm number games and long-term planning, with keyboard and swipe controls for desktop and mobile. It includes one-step undo, a saved best score and a board that remembers your game when you return. How to play

Slide all tiles in one direction; matching numbers that touch merge into their sum, which is added to your score. A new 2 or 4 appears after every move. Build a 2048 tile to win, then keep going for a higher score. The game ends when the board is full with no possible merges. Slide with the arrow keys, WASD or a swipe, press U or Z to undo your last move, and P to pause.
