Code Breaker
A colour code-breaking duel: crack a hidden 4, 5 or 6 peg code from black and white clues, set codes for seven rival solvers and beat them guess for guess. Includes a daily code and a solo mode.
Code Breaker is a colour-peg logic game. A hidden code of four, five or six coloured pegs is set, and you have a limited number of guesses to crack it. After each guess you get clues: a black peg means one peg is the right colour in the right place, and a white peg means a right colour in the wrong place. Careful deduction turns those clues into a solution in a handful of rows, and optional peg symbols keep colours easy to tell apart.
In a duel you take both roles against one of seven rivals. First you invent a secret code and watch your rival try to crack it, then you try to crack theirs, and whoever needs fewer guesses wins, with a sudden-death round after a tie. Dot only remembers the last clue, Cipher makes the odd slip, Vector chooses guesses that split the field, and Oracle is a near-perfect solver. Longer codes unlock as you crack more codes, and a no-repeat rule is optional. Every day there is a daily code, the same for everyone, with stars for beating par, plus a streak, goals, XP and coins for five peg sets. A hint reveals one peg for a few coins.
It is a good fit for puzzle fans, short breaks and anyone who enjoys deduction games. Tip: use your first guesses to learn how many of each colour there are, then use the black pegs to pin down places.
How to play
Fill each row with coloured pegs and press Guess. Black pegs mean right colour and place, white pegs mean right colour, wrong place. Crack the hidden code before you run out of rows. In a duel, set a secret code for your rival to crack, then crack theirs: the player who needs fewer guesses wins. Solve the daily code for stars.
Controls
- Mouse / tap: Tap a colour to fill the next peg; tap a peg to select it; tap GUESS to submit
- 1 - 8: Pick a colour by number
- Enter / Space: Submit the row (or lock your code)
- Backspace / C: Delete a peg / clear the row
- Arrow keys: Select a peg in the row
- H: Reveal one peg (costs 10 coins)
- S: Skip ahead while a rival is guessing
- P / Esc: Pause
- M: Mute
