Kayak Rapids is a whitewater kayak slalom and racing game built around paddle timing. You steer a kayak down a winding river, paddling the left or right side with a tap or key press. Alternate sides inside the green rhythm window and your cadence combo builds, giving every stroke more thrust. Paddle the same side twice and you turn, which costs speed, so every gate becomes a small decision between a clean line and a fast one.
Each of the four rivers has a solo slalom against the clock and a rival race against three computer kayaks. Slalom gates add time penalties when you clip a pole or miss the opening, gold gates pay extra for a perfect center line, and orange buoys reward a risky detour. Rocks, drifting logs and rapids sections get denser from gentle Meadow Brook to Thunder Gorge. Runs last under a minute, finish with stars, and feed a five-tier league, rank XP, daily goals, a daily seeded river with a rule twist, and a streak bonus.
Spend coins on paddle power, edge control, hull padding and a rhythm coach, and unlock new kayak colors as your rank rises. It suits players who like quick one-more-run arcade sports games with a real skill curve. Tip: steer early, take wide turns before the gate, and keep alternating strokes whenever the line is straight.
How to play
Tap the left or right half of the screen (or press A / D or the arrow keys) to paddle that side. Alternate sides in the green timing zone to build a cadence combo and go faster; paddle one side twice to turn. Pass through every gate, avoid rocks and banks, grab buoys, and finish with the best time or place.
Controls
