Instruments and Music Quiz
Step into a concert-hall music quiz. Name drawn instruments, read notes on the staff, listen and tell major from minor, and learn composers and world music across a bank of more than 350 questions.
Instruments and Music Quiz is a trivia game for anyone curious about how music works. More than 350 hand-written questions cover strings, woodwinds and brass, percussion and keys, the orchestra, reading music, composers and eras, music from around the world, and the science of sound. Many questions come with pictures drawn in code: twenty instruments from violin and harp to djembe and didgeridoo, notes on treble and bass staves, a piano keyboard, note values and rests, and symbols such as sharps, clefs and dynamics.
A run has twelve pieces, three notes to lose and a timer on each question. Wrong answers and timeouts cost a note, streaks multiply your score up to times five, and every fourth correct answer earns a note back. Listening questions play a short sound by themselves, so you can tell major from minor, fast from slow or rising from falling, and you can tap to hear it again. Lifelines remove wrong answers, stop the timer with a Fermata or forgive a mistake with an Encore. Pick Easy, Normal or Expert or focus on one topic. Levels unlock lifelines, difficulties and color looks, topic mastery earns medals and titles, and coins buy upgrades. The daily quiz is the same for everyone and builds a day streak.
It is good for music students, band and choir members and curious listeners. Tip: turn the sound on for the listening questions.
How to play
Play through twelve pieces by answering music questions before each timer runs out. Pick one of four answers, and tap the speaker on listening questions to hear them again. A wrong answer or timeout costs a note, a streak multiplies your score and can win a note back, and a short fact follows every answer. Use lifelines for 50/50, a Fermata or an Encore, and earn XP and coins to level up.
