Deflect
A calm samurai stands on an ink-wash scroll as arrows fly in from four sides. Parry each one on the beat, chain perfects for gold and climb the dojo ranks.
Deflect is a rhythm-flavored parry game drawn in brush ink on warm rice paper. A straw-hatted samurai stands in the center of a circle while arrows, spinning kunai and heavy bolts fly in from the top, bottom, left and right. Strike toward each shot the instant it crosses the circle to send it back in a golden streak. Hit the exact moment and you land a Perfect, complete with a flash, a burst of gold and a split second of slow motion.
The tempo rises every twelve parries. New patterns appear as you climb: double shots down one lane, spins that circle the samurai, pincers from opposite sides, heavy bolts that arrive late and red feint arrows that curve into a different lane at the last moment. Swinging at nothing leaves you off balance, so mashing is punished. Chains raise your score multiplier, every 25-chain restores a heart, and Perfects charge a Focus meter you can unleash to slow time when things get frantic. Your best tempo earns a saved dojo rank, from Novice to Living Legend.
Ideal for players who love timing challenges and short, intense sessions. Tip: watch the shrinking gold ring around each arrow; strike as it closes, and save Focus for the faster tempos.
How to play
Arrows fly toward the samurai from four directions. Press the matching direction, or tap that side of the screen, just as each shot crosses the circle to parry it. Perfect timing scores far more and charges Focus, which slows time when activated. Missed shots cost a heart; lose all five and the run ends.

- Arrow keys / WASD: Parry toward that direction
- Tap a side / swipe: Parry on touch screens
- Space / F: Use Focus when the meter is full
- Tap the samurai: Use Focus on touch screens
- P / Esc: Pause
- M: Mute sound
- R / Space: Restart after a run
