Chess Master is a complete chess game built for quick, satisfying matches in your browser. Every rule is here: castling, en passant, pawn promotion with a piece picker, check, checkmate, stalemate and the automatic draws for repetition, the fifty-move rule and insufficient material. Tap or drag a piece and its legal moves light up, so even newcomers can play without fear of illegal moves.
Three computer rivals wait for you. Rookie Rowan plays loose, human-style moves and is perfect for learning. Professor Elm calculates a few moves ahead and punishes hanging pieces. Duchess Vera searches deep tactics and rarely gives anything away. Every finished game changes your rating, which climbs through titles from Beginner to Master, while your wins, draws and losses against each rival are saved. Quick wins with material to spare score the most points, and an unfinished game is saved so you can continue later.
Chess Master suits beginners who want help as well as club players looking for a tough opponent. Stuck? Ask for a hint arrow or undo a slip, though both trim your score. A friend nearby? Switch to two-player mode and pass the device. Tip: castle early and develop your knights and bishops before you hunt the enemy king.
How to play
Choose an opponent (Easy, Medium or Hard), your colour and a mode, then press Play. Tap a piece to see its legal moves and tap a highlighted square, or drag it there. Checkmate the enemy king to win; stalemate and repetition are draws. Wins score points based on difficulty, speed and material left, minus a penalty for hints and undos, and every game against the computer updates your rating.

- Mouse / tap: Select a piece, then a highlighted square

- Arrow keys + Enter / Space: Move the cursor and select or move
- U / Backspace: Undo
- H: Hint
- F: Flip the board
- Q / R / B / N: Choose a promotion piece
