Cave Jumper is a pixel platformer that sends you, headlamp on, through ten hand-built caves full of glowing moss, crystal coins and sparkling gems. The controls are tight and forgiving, which makes it easy to pick up and rewarding to master as you chase cleaner, faster runs.

Every cave adds a new twist, including crumbling blocks, moving platforms, ceiling spikes and a towering vertical climb. Holding jump gives you a higher leap, you get a little grace time after running off a ledge, and from the third cave on you unlock a double jump for daring gaps. Stomp beetles and bats by landing on them, but jump over the spiky critters that cannot be squashed. Flags act as checkpoints, and finishing a cave quickly earns a time bonus.

This free online platform game is for players who like retro adventure with real progression. Your unlocked caves and best time for each one are saved, and on-screen buttons let you play on mobile as well as desktop. A run starts with five lives, and every 50 coins grants another. Tip: grab coins even when you are rushing, because extra lives make the later caves far less stressful.

How to play

Run and jump to the swirling portal at the end of each cave. Collect coins and gems and stomp enemies for points; touching spikes, falling into pits or getting hit from the side costs a life. You start with 5 lives, earn one per 50 coins, and the run ends when lives run out or you escape the tenth cave. Move with the arrows or A/D, jump with Space, W or Up (hold for higher, press again mid-air to double jump), or use the touch buttons.
